maturity 的词源

在15世纪初，maturite指的是“性格的成熟”；到15世纪中期，这个词的意思扩展到了“成熟、完整、充分发展”。它源自古法语的maturité，直接借自拉丁语的mātūritatem（主格形式为mātūritas），意为“成熟”，而mātūrus则意为“成熟的”（参见mature (v.)）。这个词在早期现代英语中似乎又被重新借用：
