millennium 的词源

1630年代起，指基督预期在地球上统治的千年期（《启示录》20章1-5节）。这个词源自现代拉丁语 millennium，而拉丁语中 mille 意为“千”（参见 million），annus 意为“年”（参见 annual）。它的构成类似于 biennium（两年期）、triennium（三年期）等词。关于元音变化，可以参见 biennial。该词在1711年已被用来表示“一千年的总和，持续一千年的时期或间隔”。而“公元2000年”这一意义则出现在1970年。
