aegis 的词源

“保护”这个词最早出现在1793年，源自拉丁语的aegis，而这又来自希腊语的Aigis，指的是宙斯的盾牌。希罗多德曾提到，这个词与aix（属格aigos）有关，意思是“山羊”，源自原始印欧语*aig-，同样的词根在梵语中是ajah，在立陶宛语中是ožys，意为“公山羊”。这也解释了为什么盾牌是用山羊皮制作的。雅典娜的aigis是一种短款的山羊皮斗篷，上面镶嵌着蛇发女妖的头，边缘则是蛇的装饰。至于它的具体用途和功能，现在已经不太清楚了。
