alter ego 的词源

14世纪晚期，"改变（某物），以某种方式使其不同"，源自古法语 alterer "改变，变更"，再追溯到中世纪拉丁语 alterare "改变"，而其词源则是拉丁语 alter "两个中的另一个"。这个词的原始印欧语根 *al- (1) 意为 "超越"，加上比较后缀 -ter（如在 other 中）。不及物用法 "变得不同" 最早记录于1580年代。相关词汇： Altered（已改变）； altering（正在改变）。
