remembrance 的词源

大约在14世纪中期，英语中出现了 remembren 这个词，意思是“将某人或某物铭记于心，保留在记忆中，不忘记”。这个词源自古法语的 remembrer，意为“记住，回忆起，想起”，而古法语又源自拉丁语的 rememorari，意为“想起，回忆”，其中 re- 表示“再次”（参见 re-），而 memorari 则意为“铭记”，来源于 memor（意为“记忆中的”），其词根可以追溯到原始印欧语的 *(s)mer- (1)，意为“记住”。
