Samaritan 的词源

古英语中，“撒玛利亚的居民或本地人”，指的是古代巴勒斯坦的撒玛利亚地区。这个词源于晚期拉丁语 Samaritanus，再往前追溯到希腊语 Samareitēs，而希腊语又来自 Samareia（参见 Samaria）。在以色列人被驱逐出境后，亚述王在撒玛利亚的城市中安置了一些非希伯来人种。
