fandom 的词源

“devotee”这个词出现在1889年，最初是在美国英语中用来指代棒球爱好者的，可能是“fanatic”（狂热者）的缩写，但也可能受到“the fancy”（爱好者团体）的影响，这个词通常用来指某项爱好或运动（尤其是拳击）的追随者；参见fancy（名词）。虽然在1682年有过孤立的用法，但现代意义上的“devotee”很可能是在19世纪晚期形成的。“Fan mail”这个词组在1920年左右的好莱坞语境中被证实存在；而“Fan club”则在1930年被证实。
