garrote 的词源

也作 garrotte，1620年代，意指“西班牙通过勒死的死刑方法”，来源于西班牙语 garrote “用于拧绳的棍子”（执行中的方法），起源不明。可能来自古法语 guaroc “棍棒，棍子，弩的杆”，可能最终来源于凯尔特语，但也可能来自法兰克语 *wrokkan “扭转”（与中古荷兰语 wroken “扭转”同源）。
