ivory tower 的词源

“象牙塔”这个词最早出现在1889年，源自法语tour d'ivoire。1837年，评论家查尔斯-奥古斯丁·圣-博夫（Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve，1804-1869）用它来形容诗人阿尔弗雷德·德·维尼（Alfred de Vigny，1797-1863），指责他过于孤傲。
