morality 的词源

14世纪晚期，moralite，意为“道德品质， virtuous conduct or thought（高尚的行为或思想）”，源自古法语 moralite（现代法语 moralité），“故事的道德；道德教育；道德观，道德品质”（13世纪），直接来自晚期拉丁语 moralitatem（主格 moralitas），“行为，品德”，源于拉丁语 moralis，“关于行为或道德的；道德的”（参见 moral (adj.)）。15世纪中期起，“伦理义务的学说或体系”这一含义开始出现。1590年代起，“善良，道德的特征，高尚”这一含义得到证实。
