sawbuck 的词源

“十美元钞票”或“十美元纸币”，在美国英语中被称为 saw-buck，这种俚语出现于1850年（在 double-sawbuck 中暗示）。之所以这样称呼，是因为X（罗马数字10，在许多19世纪中期美国钞票设计中非常显眼）看起来像锯马的两端。Sawbuck 作为“锯马”的意思可以追溯到1837年（参见 saw (n.1) + buck (n.3)）。
