discover 的词源

大约在公元1300年，discoveren这个词出现，最初的意思是“揭露、泄露、曝光、公开、背叛（某人的秘密）”，这些含义如今已不再使用。它源自古法语的descovrir，意为“揭开、揭露、暴露、背叛”，而古法语又来自于中世纪拉丁语的discooperire。这个词可以拆分为拉丁语的dis-（表示“相反”或“否定”，参见dis-）和cooperire（意为“覆盖、掩盖、埋藏”，参见cover (v.)）。
