loyalty 的词源

约1400年，源自古法语 loialte, leaute “忠诚，信 fidelity; 合法性; 诚实; 良好品质”（现代法语 loyauté），来自 loial（参见 loyal），源自拉丁语 legalem。词尾是 -ty (2)，但拉丁语词干元音的丧失使其不明显。中世纪拉丁语词是 legalitas。

早期中英语形式是 leaute（13世纪中期），来自较早的法语形式。Loyalty oath 证明于1852年。
